Amernet String Quartet

The Amernet String Quartet is the ensemble-in-residence at Florida International University in Miami. Hailed for their “intelligence” and “immensely satisfying playing” by The New York Times, their performance schedule has taken the quartet across the Americas, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. They have collaborated with many of today’s prominent artists and ensembles, including the Tokyo Quartet, Anthony McGill, Sherill Milnes, and Joseph Kalichstein. Early in their career, the Amernet quartet won the gold medal at the Tokyo International Music Competition, as well as the first prize at the Banff International String Quartet Competition. They actively advocate for neglected works of the past, with a focus on composers of the Jewish diaspora. Their performance at Trinity will feature quartets by Mozart and Schumann.

Ruckus Early Music

Featuring Rachel Ellen Wong, Violin and Emi Ferguson, Flute

Ruckus is a shapeshifting, collaborative baroque ensemble with a visceral and playful approach to early music “aims to fuse the early-music movement’s questing, creative spirit with the grit, groove, and jangle of American roots music”. San Francisco Classical Voice described Ruckus as “the world’s only period-instrument rock band”, and it’s members are among the most creative and virtuosic performers in North American early music. Ruckus’ debut album, Fly the Coop, was Billboard’s #2 classical album upon its release.  The Boston Musical Intelligencer describes the group as taking continuo playing to “not simply a new level, but a revelatory new dimension of dynamism altogether”

Their program, titled “Strawberry Fields” is described by Ruckus as “A joyous feast of rustic dances from the 18th century”, featuring Ignatius Sancho’s 12 Country Dances for the year 1779 alongside G.F. Handel’s trio sonatas.

Christmas-by-the-Cove

An annual Naples holiday tradition! The church will ring with Christmas joy as the choir of Trinity-by-the-Cove presents Christmas Carols old and new, enhanced by local instrumental musicians from the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra at Artis Naples.

Brahms Sonatas for Clarinet or Viola

At the end of his career, after vowing to retire from composing,  Brahms wrote two sonatas for his clarinetist friend Richard Mühlfield, but quickly provided alternate versions for the viola. Naples Philharmonic Orchestra members Jane Mitchell and Eric Anderson and pianist Alexandra Carlson will present a unique reading of both sonatas, alternating instruments between the movements and perhaps even playing some movements together as a trio. Decide for yourself which instrument best suits the music!

FGCU Chamber Choir

The Florida Gulf Coast University Chamber Choir is the top choral ensemble at the Bower School of Music. Recognized for their remarkable versatility, the ensemble performs choral music from the Renaissance to newly commissioned works by American and international composers. The choir has performed for the Florida Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) conference in 2021 and 2015, and every three years the choir embarks on an international performance tour.

Their performance at Trinity will include Bach’s Cantata “Nimm, was dein ist, und gehe hin”, BWV 144 which draws inspiration from the parable of the workers in the vineyard from the Gospel according to Matthew. They will also be joined by guest conductor Rodrigo Faguaga from Montevideo, Uruguay for a set of Latin American choral music.

Nathan Gunn Baritone

Nathan Gunn is one of the most celebrated operatic baritones of today. Acclaimed for his diverse performing career bridging the genres of opera, musical theater, and recital, he has performed many of opera and musical theater’s greatest roles on the world’s most prestigious stages. Nathan’s famous portrayal of Papageno in The Magic Flute was brought to the world stage in the first ever live HD broadcast of the Metropolitan Opera. He is the winner of the Metropolitan Opera’s first ever Beverly Sills award, and received a GRAMMY award for best opera recording in 2010, singing the title role in Britten’s Billy Budd with the London Symphony Orchestra.

Also widely acclaimed for his work in musical theater, his performances of roles at both Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center have been widely acclaimed and have led to collaborations with Broadway stars such as Kelli O’Hara and Audra McDonald. He is the Swanlund Professor of Voice at The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
