    Nathan Gunn is one of the most celebrated operatic baritones of today. Acclaimed for his diverse performing career bridging the genres of opera, musical theater, and recital, he has performed many of opera and musical theater’s greatest roles on the world’s most prestigious stages. Nathan’s famous portrayal of Papageno in The Magic Flute was brought to the world stage in the first ever live HD broadcast of the Metropolitan Opera. He is the winner of the Metropolitan Opera’s first ever Beverly Sills award, and received a GRAMMY award for best opera recording in 2010, singing the title role in Britten’s Billy Budd with the London Symphony Orchestra.

    Also widely acclaimed for his work in musical theater, his performances of roles at both Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center have been widely acclaimed and have led to collaborations with Broadway stars such as Kelli O’Hara and Audra McDonald. He is the Swanlund Professor of Voice at The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
