Saturday, March 8th
Not only will you help a family in need with a little sweat equity, but you will also help build a brighter future for the less fortunate in our community. Our next service day is Saturday, March 8th from 8:00 a.m. to noon. All experience levels are welcome! Childcare is available at the church upon request. Sign up online, in the Parish Hall, or email Fr. Nicholas with questions.
Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.
A weekly opportunity to come together as a parish family on Thursday evenings for a beautiful choral evensong service, followed by a delicious dinner, and formation offerings for the whole family. Many find that it is just what they need to re-center themselves in the midst of the busyness of life, get together in Christian community, and grow in faith. Come for the whole time or for whatever parts you can make -- and pray, eat, and grow together in faith.
Thursday, March 13th
Join us after Choral Evensong and a community dinner for our next Speaker Series event, where the Rev. Dr. Robert MacSwain will give a talk entitled, "Saints as Evidence for God?" MacSwain, Associate Professor of Theology at the University of the South (and former professor to both Mthr. Marcella and Fr. Nicholas), has written a forthcoming book titled, Saints as Divine Evidence: The Hagiological Argument for the Existence of God (Cambridge University Press). In it he explores the interesting but neglected claim that the best evidence for God is found not in philosophical arguments but in holy human lives. In this talk he will explain the basic ideas of the book and ask us to consider what sainthood means to us. Please register online.
Saturday, March 22nd
The Daughters of the King will host the annual Lenten Quiet Morning of Reflection on Saturday, March 22. This is a wonderful event and a great way to enter more fully into the season of Lent. It is open to all, both men and women, parishioners and other members of the community. Throughout the morning, a series of spoken meditations, interspersed with time for quiet reflection, will be offered by Dr. Gerald Boersma on "Restoring the Eye of the Heart with Saint Augustine". Gerald P. Boersma is Professor of Theology at Ave Maria University and Humboldt Fellow at the University of Tübingen. He is a systematic theologian whose writings focus especially on the thought of Augustine and Thomas Aquinas. He is author of Augustine’s Early Theology of Image (Oxford, 2016) and numerous essays as journal articles and book chapters devoted to theology, philosophy, and literary criticism. Please register online.
