Cantus

Now entering its 31st season, the "engaging" (New Yorker) low-voice vocal ensemble Cantus is widely known for its trademark warmth and blend, innovative programming and riveting performances of music ranging from the Renaissance to the 21st century.

The Washington Post has hailed the Cantus sound as having "exalting finesse" and "expressive power", and the Philadelphia Inquirer called the group "nothing short of exquisite".

As one of the nation's few full-time vocal ensembles, Cantus performs without a conductor; the members of Cantus rehearse and perform as chamber musicians, each contributing to the entirety of the artistic process. Cantus enjoys a vigorous schedule of national and international touring, from concerts in their home of Minneapolis-St. Paul to Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, Tanglewood, and Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival.

Echoing Air

In January, the concert series will feature Echoing Air, a distinguished period-instrument Baroque ensemble from Indianapolis. This appearance continues the series' commitment to presenting historically informed performances, a genre that remains underrepresented in the Naples area.

The ensemble comprises two countertenors, recorders, and basso continuo, and takes its name from Henry Purcell's renowned song "Hark, the Echoing Air." Their programming places particular emphasis on the music of the English Baroque.

Jason Vieaux

The season concludes with GRAMMY Award-winning guitarist Jason Vieaux. A world-renowned artist, Vieaux has been praised by Gramophone Magazine as "perhaps the most precise and soulful classical guitarist of his generation." He has performed across the globe and holds faculty positions at both the Curtis Institute of Music and the Cleveland Institute of Music.

This marked the first classical guitar performance in recent memory at Trinity, and the instrument's rich, expressive sound was well suited to the church's intimate acoustic setting. It was a memorable finale to a remarkable season.
