Valencia Baryton Project

Parish Hall

The Valencia Baryton Project has dedicated itself to the performance of music written for the ancient and little-known baryton. A cross between the viola da gamba and the lirone, with ten resonating and plucked strings along the back of the instrument, the baryton brings an entirely new dimension to the traditional string trio. Franz Joseph Haydn wrote 123 works for this unique ensemble configuration, while the group's repertoire continues to grow through the creation of new works for this remarkable and long-forgotten instrument.
